Employees Get Into the "Spirit" of Halloween

In our work place we believe in being a part of the communities we enjoy living in.

The Hoerster Clinic Marble Falls employees participated in the "Midnight Madness" theme as Frankenstein and His Wives.

Helping Hearts

Do you have questions regarding your heart? What is coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure? How soon can you resume regular activities after a heart attack? These are just a few of the questions addressed at the Helping Hearts Support Group.

Come have lunch with others who have heart problems and meet Cardiologist/Rehab Medical Director, Dr. David Swett, and Kathy Roberts, R.N., Program Director of Llano Memorial Hospital's Cardiac Rehab Department. Helping Hearts meet every other Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Ford Street Clinic, Llano, Texas.

For more information, call Kathy Roberts (915) 247-7836.

Chief Nursing Officer, Pam Clark, RN, is the person to talk to if you are interested in participating in the American Heart Walk on Saturday, October 16, 1999. As in years past, the Walk is sponsored by the Highland Lakes Division of the American Heart Association. For more information call Pam Clark (915) 247-7862 or Mary Rhodes (915) 247-7846.

Wellness Holiday Stroll

In the spirit of the holidays and in keeping with our Wellness Programs Llano Memorial Healthcare Systems, with seven area churches, sponsored a 2.5 K stroll through historic Llano. The stroll took place on December 4, 1998, and was a tremendous success. Altogether the 190 particpants enjoyed a beautiful winter's night as they strolled through Llano. We are looking forward to sponsoring future "walks" similar to this in the future.

Healthwise for Life, Body, Mind, and Spirit

1999's Community Outreach Programs once again hosted a number of local Healthfests. The theme for 1999 has been "Laughter is the Best Medicine". And, in keeping with our theme, LMHS participants donned the clown costumes and the make-up and added that extra touch. We proved that attending a Healthfest is not only a great way to get valuable health screenings but also have a little fun as well. The Kingsland Flappers added to our fun at the National Senior Health and Fitness Day Healthfest in June. LMHS sponsored 10 area "Healthfests" so far this year. Healthfests were conducted in Llano on two occasions, Sunrise Beach, Tow, Blue Lake/ Deer Haven, Kingsland, Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, and Cherokee!

The idea behind 1999's Healthfest has been to test all aspects of your physical health, including your eyes, ears, and feet, as well as your mental health, and share a smile. All testing was provided free of charge and was made available to all age groups. Body fat calibrations, blood sugar and blood lipid testing, mental health assessments, and blood pressure checks were just a few of the tests that were available at the 1999 Healthfests.
