Mardi Gras Ball - Annual Fundraiser for Health System

The annual fundraiser for the hospital is the Foundation's Mardi Gras Ball. Scheduled the Saturday before Fat Tuesday, the Mardi Gras Ball has proven to be one of the best parties of the year in addition to providing funds that enable the hospital foundation to purchase new equipment for the health system.
Mardi Gras Ball 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, February 13th at the Oestreich Rose@ Inman's Kitchen, 809 W. Young in Llano. Proceeds from this year's gala will be used to purchase a new hematology analyzer for the hospital laboratory. The goal for the 2010 campaign is $60,000.
The hematology analyzer is a critical piece of lab equipment and is used to process one of the most frequently requested diagnostic tests, a complete blood count (CBC). The hospital lab runs an average of 40 to 50 tests per day, with specimens tested coming not only from hospital inpatients and outpatients but also Hoerster Clinic patients. The unit selected , the Cell-Dyn Ruby, is Abbott Hematology’s latest moderate volume, five-part differential analyzer which features patented, all optical technology referred to as MAPSS, setting a standard for the highest first pass acceptance/lowest manual review rate of patient samples.
